Within the Labyrinth
Who are our deities? What is our
sacrament?
Coke and popcorn, blood and body,
are taken in remembrance of cenematic saviors
who light a controlled darkness
where death cannot enter.
Images pass by each
other, collide, drift away and return at random,
as if in a dream. Occasionally a marriage of disparate elements transcend content
defy meaning. Reaching past the symbolic, they delve deep into the realms of magic, myth
and metaphor. The resulting image, like a door, opens to what is beyond.
If you see with the minds eye, the door opens into perception.
It is a process not of sight, but insight.
Scientific models are metaphors for the physical universe.
Myths are metaphors or the metaphysical universe. Modern physicists and ancient mystics
are kindred spirits. They simply offer alternate descriptions of the same phenomena from
different points of view.
Magic, myth and metaphor. Science, history and fact. For the
first time in human existence both are accessible. In a very real sense these differing
world views are like the two hemispheres of the brain: the intuitive right and the
reasoning left. The synergistic potential of incorporating Primal and Western thought is
an exciting and difficult prospect. But in a world that is long on problems and
short on alternatives,
this notion should be considered.
My intent is to explore the deep metaphysical relationships
in the here and now.
For it is from this place and time contemporary
insights into
our ancient selves can be found.
